Could Ireland just be the first?

As lenders begin to mark down the debt of other nations could more countries soon be cutting spending and hiking taxes? If so, then the new lower growth figures predicted for UK in 2011 may just be the first of many depressing forecasts.

Will customer power alter things?

Last week some travelers in the US went on strike against full body scans. Some were genuinely ill people who did want their bodies searched, exposed etc, as they felt embarrassed. Other simply felt enough was enough and that security had gone crazy. Might the airlines soon be putting pressure on the authorities to have a re-think about this form of pre-flight search?

Are we no longer getting what we paid for – or thought we did?

The arrival of low cost airlines, fuel price rises, the increased cost of security all have made it more difficult for airlines to make any money. But have they carefully dropped some of the basic services that flying always contained?
